Prince George parks plan calls for some parks to be developed in order to improve and build others

Last week there was a minor uproar in a Prince George neighbourhood when people discovered trees in a local park had been destroyed.
The city later apologized for the removal of the trees and said the park would not be changed.
However, the planning department said there is a strategy in place to redevelop parks and greenspace around the city.
Laurie-Ann Kosec is the parks planner for the city.
"We have a parks plan that recommends we dispose of some the parks. These are parks that don't meet the standards or are in oversupply."
Kosec says as some parks are sold, others will be built or improved.
"You may have neighbourhoods that don't have a neighbourhood park... and in some neighbourhoods you may have an oversupply."
Kosec says the Heritage neighbourhood is an example of an area with an oversupply of parks, while the Hart has an undersupply.
