A Greater Manchester MP says he hopes the Stepping Hill poisoning case will never happen again - thanks to tighter procedures on hiring foreign nurses to work in the NHS. There are concerns over whether the convicted Pilipino nurse Victorino Chua was properly qualified to work in the UK. Since 2011, the Nursing and Midwifery Council have introduced a test of competence - and face-to-face identity checks. William Wragg, the Conservative MP for Hazel Grove, says he hopes something similar can never happen again.
