The Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) has come up with a new mediation proposal to resolve the protracted conflict in South Sudan.

The new initiative will incorporate IGAD, the African Union represented by five countries from the regions, the UN, EU, China and Troika nations.

"The mediation decided to prepare a compromise document," Ambassador Seyum Mesfin told journalists in Addis Ababa on Thursday.

"We think and we believe that all the parties can live with and continue into the establishment of the Transitional Government of National Unity."

He says he is 'encourages' by initial responses to the synopsis of the document and the full plan will be tabled in mid July when the next round of peace talks is expected to begin.
