FULL INTERVIEW - Foreign Affairs Ministry reacts to UN Sanctions

After months of debate, investigation and deliberation, United Nations Security Council has imposed sanctions on six opposing generals for "fuelling the ongoing conflict and contributing to the humanitarian crisis in South Sudan.

Late last week, the US suggested the 6 names, three from SPLA forces and three from the opposition to the UN Sanctions Committee, the committee had until 10pm local time on Wednesday night to raise any objections.

The people listed include Major-General Marial Chanuong Yol Mangok, commander of President Salva Kiir's guard unit; sector one commander Lieutenant-General Gabriel Jok Riak; and third division commander Major-General Santino Deng Wol.

While on the opposition side - the men named are: Major-General Simon Gatwech Dual, chief of general staff for the opposition forces; Major-General James Koang Chuol, commander of the opposition special division; and Major-General Peter Gadet, the deputy chief of staff of operations for the oppositions forces.
