Perhaps few cities have been as intensively reported on as the Iraqi capital, Baghdad. Heat and dust, blasts and bullets, bombed buildings and ruined lives; they are the stock images for a city that has seen astonishing conflict over the past decade or so. But there is another Baghdad, both integral to the city and apart from it, a place that has seen quite horrific bloodshed and is at the same time a place of complete tranquillity.
