Life as a Visual Storyteller—Episode 16—16th July, 2015: My Ridiculous Ambition Turns a Short Film into a Monster

Perhaps you recognise this? You’re working on a project of limited scope and somehow it turns into a seething, messy leviathan. You set out to produce a short, simple stop motion. Somehow it’s become a work of startling intricacy instead. A comfortable day’s filming has become a tight week.

Enthusiasm can be a creative’s worst enemy. Enthusiasm is boundless. Budget and time aren’t.

My enthusiasm for my current video has got the better of me. Still, if it helps explain what Show and Tell (my new company) does, it’ll all be worth it. By the way, today’s cartoon is an illustration I produced this morning for the website. It is part of the visual story we’re telling about our own business.

Meanwhile, on the fitness front, my weight loss appears to have stalled. I’ve reached a plateau. What’s going on? I haven’t pulled back on the exercise. There is no justice in the world.
