Kent Heroes - Young Person of the Year - Jack Miles

Jul 20, 2015, 11:24 AM

On day 1 of our Kent Hero Awards with Kent Reliance, we popped up in Ashford at The John Wallis Academy to surprise a young man called Jack Miles,

We heard from many people about Jack who was walking home when a 12 year old from the same school was involved in a car accident.

Jack showed incredible quick thinking and maturity, immediately running to the nearby doctor's surgery to get specialist help. As a result of Jack's actions a doctor from the surgery came quickly to the scene and was able to provide medical attention whilst waiting for the paramedics to arrive. Jack's actions were highly praised by the emergency services who stated that his rapid and mature response no doubt contributed to his friend's survival.

Jack wanted to show an appreciation for those who had helped. As a result, as a member of the school student council, he was part of a committee who made a request to host a Summer Fair with all proceeds being donated to the Kent Air Ambulance. After a successful event, the Academy raised over £1200.

kmfm's Rob Wills and Rob Gurr from Kent Reliance surprised Jack in his school assembly with something a little special!
