Lucy Ackland, 27 - the benefits of apprenticeships

Lucy Ackland, from Bristol, knew she wanted to be an engineer at the age of 13. She completed a mechanical engineering apprenticeship with Renishaw PLC and now, aged 27, is a project manager.

Lucy started her four-year apprenticeship in mechanical engineering with Renishaw in 2004, when she was 16 years old. Lucy carried on with her college courses and graduated with a first class honours degree in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering in 2012.
