IGAD Plus endorse new peace deal

Mediators under the new initiative known as the IGAD Plus have released a compromise peace deal proposal.

IGAD mediators now say they will ensure delegations from both sides of the conflict will sign a peace agreement on the 17th of August.

The IGAD-Plus include IGAD member states, the five members of the AU High-level Ad Hoc Committee, the Troika, China, the EU, AU and the UN.

Abdeta Beyene, Chief of Staff for the Office of the IGAD Special Envoys to South Sudan read out a statement to the media at the end of a three-day meeting of IGAD mediators in Addis Ababa on Thursday.
