The President of the United States of America became the first US President to visit Kenya on Friday. Obama is in the middle of a tour of Africa that will take him to both Kenya and Ethiopia.

Over the weekend, he met with Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta and spoke about a number of issues including trade, health, women's rights, terrorism and regional security.

South Sudan is also high on Obama's agenda for this trip. Speaking at a press conference in the Kenyan capital Nairobi yesterday, he said the conflict had caused 'unbearable suffering' for the people of South Sudan.

"The situation is dire," he says. "We agreed that the best way to stop the fighting is for South Sudanese leaders to put their country first, with a peace agreement that ends the fighting."

President Obama is in Ethiopia today to meet with the Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn. Obama will also become the first US president to address the African Union, the 54-member continental bloc, at its headquarters.

He will also hold talks with regional leaders on the civil war in South Sudan.
