Sir Ian McCartney was the Labour Party Member of Parliament for the Makerfield constituency between 1987 to 2010 and served in the Cabinet, from 2003 to 2007, when Gordon Brown became Prime Minister. He only retired from national politics 5 years ago but he says things are so different now he's not sure someone with his working class background would make it today. Here he is in conversation with BBC Radio Manchester's Andy Crane.
