"People of South Sudan don’t need consultations, they need peace and delaying peace may have serious consequences for the civilians who have suffered 20 months of a brutal civil war,” Mrs Rebecca Nyandeng Garang de Mabior, widow of South Sudan’s freedom fighter Dr John Garang said on Monday.

Mrs Rebecca Garang, witnessed the Pagan Amum representing the G10 and Opposition leader, Dr Riek Machar, append their signature to the peace deal in Addis Ababa.

She however broke down in tears after President Kiir refused to append his signature to the document. President Kiir asked for 15- days to consult before he can append his signature to the peace deal, expected to bring an end to the conflict that has left thousands of people displaced.

In an exclusive interview with Radio Miraya, Rebecca Garang explained that she cried for the men, women, girls, and children of South Sudan, whose suffering is being extended by lack of a comprehensive peace deal.

“I have seen nobody cares for South Sudan and South Sudan has become a widow and I know for sure that South Sudan has become our widow, Dr John died for good and nobody is taking care of this widow, this is why I wept.” Rebecca Garang explained. #southsudan, #peace, #igad
