In the UK we are a nation of dog lovers but how did man's best friend become the speedy, bouncy animal we know today? Well for a long time it has been thought that dogs got faster as their prey did, in a sort of arms race, but new research from Professor Christine Janis and a team at Brown University has shown that actually, long term climate change may have been the key. Connie Orbach finds out more.
