Advantages of Solar Power
Share
You have probably heard about solar powered lights. They are heavily marketed by environmental organizations in an effort to help conserve our natural resources. They help prevent the creation of greenhouse gases, and offer an alternative to the normal power grid that you are plugged into. But do they have any cons?

Everything is dependent on the sun. So, when the battery cells in your lights don't have access to sunlight, they can't recharge. On days when there are heavy clouds or storms they will not receive the full charge they would normally get. With that, during the winter there is also a reduced amount of time that you will receive a charge. Since most solar powered lights are designed for outdoor use, a full night may not be needed and the charge should last you until the early hours of morning easily.

Another consideration when it comes to solar powered lights is they are not as bright as their electricity based cousins. Typically the lights are dimmer and require less energy to keep the light constantly lit. However, in certain settings this is better than having a blinding light blasting in your face. The reduced lighting isn't significant enough to make a stunning difference, rather a subtle one.
