‘If talks fail I‘m afraid the Assembly will be bust’ – Alliance’s Stephen Farry

Can a new round of party talks solve the Stormont crisis? It certainly looks like more talks are on the way.

The Assembly's future is in doubt, after the police assessment that the IRA still exists. The UUP has quit the Executive and the DUP says it can't be business as usual.

But a DUP bid to have Assembly sittings adjourned for talks was defeated at Stormont yesterday.

Meanwhile, the earlier crisis over welfare reform and the budget hasn't gone away either.
