September 8 | Richard Moore and Lionel Birnie are joined by Orla Chennaoui of Sky Sports in the latest Telegraph Cycling Podcast. They discuss the Vuelta a Espana and the Tour of Britain and ask whether Tom Dumoulin can upset the climbers by winning in Spain?

After Monday’s 16th stage, the so-called ‘Queen stage’ of the Vuelta, left the race in the balance as they headed into Tuesday’s rest day and looked ahead to Wednesday’s crucial time trial. Joaquim Rodriguez is in the red jersey of race leader but with a lead of less than two minutes on Dumoulin, the big Dutchman could still finish on top of the podium in Madrid on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Tour of Britain is set to be as unpredictable as ever. Lionel has an interview with Charly Wegelius, sports director at the Cannondale-Garmin team, and Orla reports back from the teams’ presentation and opening stage, including a memorable interview with Sir Bradley Wiggins. Wiggins was in a mischievous mood, which gets the podcast team analysing the great conundrum that is Bradley Wiggins. He is a “conformist rebel,” concludes Orla.

Wiggins also confirmed the best-kept secret in cycling: that Mark Cavendish will leave his current team, Etixx-QuickStep, at the end of the season. We look at where he might go.
