There are signs of a business revolt against new minimum pay laws. Warnings are being sounded about job losses and price increases The Government is increasing the minimum wage and rebranding it as the national living wage. It will increase by 50p for over-25s from April - to £7.20 an hour. A series of staged increases are expected to take it above £9 an hour by 2020. Whitbread - who own the Premier Inn and Costa Coffee chains - says price rises are inevitable. And the head of Wetherspoons is predicting pub closures.
