Five year old Charlie Mills became sick in mid-August after eating a cucumber infected with Salmonella. After the initial diarrhea and fever passed, mills developed a severe urinary tract infections.
It took doctors almost a month to determine the cause. Charlie's family is now suing Andrew & Williamson Fresh Produce, the distributor who brought the tainted cucumbers to the U.S. from Mexico.
Meghann Mills, Charlie's mother, says she hopes suing the distributor will bring stricter regulations for food companies. More than 400-people nationwide, including 37 Utahns, were sickened by the salmonella-tainted fruit.
