World Mental Health Day

Hear Cllr Caroline Penn, lead for mental health, talk about World Mental Health Day and the events in Brighton & Hove. Brighton and Hove libraries, City Reads and Action for Happiness are offering an action-packed day full of activities for World Mental Health Day at Jubilee Library this Saturday, 10 October. Aimed at providing people with practical activities and networks which promote happiness, activities include a literary themed Health Walk, Colour Space with Woody's Colour in Club, Read Aloud, Bookchat, Happiness Café and informal conversation. All activities are free, open to all ages and people can drop in throughout the day and/ or take part in some facilitated sessions. The day will provide an intergenerational space for all ages to enjoy. This day will also be the lanch of City Reads 2015, an annual festival of reading that encourages all of Brighton and Hove Libraries to read one book and talk about their reading experience. This year’s titles is The Humans by Matt Haig, which explores what it means to be human. Matt Haig has written extensively about mental health and his new book Reasons to Stay Alive explores his own personal experiences. #MHAW15 #IAmStigmaFree
