ICC: World cricket signs eight-year Nissan sponsor deal

Think of cricket, and you might think of elderly gents in blue blazers sitting around scoffing cucumber sandwiches. But the sport has come a long way from the days of W G Grace and friendly amateurism. Today, cricket is big business. The broadcasting rights for the cricket world cup were recently sold for $2bn. Now the Japanese car company Nissan has agreed an eight-year deal to sponsor international cricket. Nissan will back tournaments including the World Cup, the Champions Trophy and the World Twenty 20, the shorter form of the game. Tim Wigmore writes for the cricket website CricInfo and told us more.
