The Pumas lost key players Juan Imhoff and captain Agustin Creevy to injury, and had Tomas Lavanini yellow carded, before a Matt Giteau long pass setup Ashley-Cooper to make it 19-6.
Argentina fought back in the second-half as multiple penalties from Sanchez left them 22-15 down, but with eight minutes left Ashley-Cooper try scored again after superb work from Drew Mitchell.
