PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A race for county prosecutor outside Philadelphia will likely determine whether the office keeps investigating Bill Cosby in an alleged 2004 sexual assault. Republican Bruce L. Castor Jr. is seeking Tuesday to return to his old job as Montgomery County district attorney after a stint as county commissioner. He declined to charge Cosby a decade ago, and recently questioned the accuser's credibility. His opponent is Democrat Kevin Steele, a deputy prosecutor involved in the re-opened investigation. Steele has criticized Castor for not filing charges the first time around. The investigation focuses on a former Temple University employee's claim she was sexually assaulted by Cosby at his home outside Philadelphia. Cosby has called their encounter consensual. The woman recently sued Castor for defamation. Her attorney says she'll stop cooperating with law enforcement if Castor is elected.
