The Sealyham Terrier is delightful little dogs. They are not only a loving and affectionate dogs; they are loyal and caring with an excellent courage as well. This terrier is not too rowdy like some of the other terrier breeds. They are generally great with other pets, but may be inclined to be aggressive. Expect that these dogs are reserved when they are around strangers. Making a great watch dog, these terriers are skilled trackers and hunters as well. They can be quite a dog to train, though. It is always important to keep an eye on them when around small children. They do not usually tolerate harsh treatment from little kids. The Sealyham Terrier has been originally bred to hunt badgers, foxes, and otters. Presently, these comical little dogs are mostly companion dogs, which make a great choice for a novice terrier dog owner.

The Sealyham Terrier will require a fair amount of grooming. Their long, thick coat will require brushing thrice or four times a week, and bathing every one to two months. Stripping will be needed once a year at a minimum to get rid of dead fur. These dogs are prone to deafness, skin allergies, and eye diseases. The Sealyham Terrier is generally an intelligent dog. But, being the terrier that they are, they will be required to be trained consistently on a daily basis. They require firm but gentle training to have them grasp the basics of obedience. Training this breed would be best for a novice dog owner. Short training sessions that are coupled with play time will get rid of the stubborn Sealyham Terrier. Teaching this breed different tricks and commands consistently is advised.
