A cargo plane chartered by the United Nations World Food Program, (WFP) crash-landed in Malakal, Upper Nile state, on Tuesday.

The plane came down near the West Bank of the River Nile shortly after take-off at about 3 o'clock.

All 4 Kenyan crew onboard escaped with minor injuries and are receiving treatment at the United Nations Mission clinic in the state capital Malakal.

WFP Communications Officer George Fominyen said the agency is working with the South Sudan civil aviation authority, the Kenyan operators of the aircraft and United Nations Peacekeepers to determine the cause of the crash.
