The United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS) continue to implement its mandate of Peacekeeping across the country.

Over the past few weeks UNMISS integrated patrols with aid agencies have reached parts of Western Equatoria state to conduct a rapid needs assessment and deliver health supplies and equipment to communities affected by insecurity.

It is estimated that up to 50,000 people are displaced and urgently need food, water, shelter and healthcare in Mundri East and Mundri West counties.

Separately, a UN agency team accompanied by UNMISS escort and force protection was also able to reach about 24,000 displaced people in Maridi, also in Western Equatoria following weeks of fighting and displacement.

This is in addition to the thousands of people sheltering at six UNMISS bases across the country.
