MPs have given the green light to controversial welfare cuts in Northern Ireland. After years of stalemate at Stormont, the House of Commons passed a bill giving David Cameron's government the power to introduce its UK-wide benefit reforms here. The move flows from the "Fresh Start" agreement announced last week by the DUP and Sinn Fein. A newspaper in Sinn Fein's West belfast heartland has criticised that deal. An Anderstonstown Town News editorial said Sinn Fein's 'absolutist position' on welfare reform can be viewed as a 'very significant error' and 'embarrassing'.
