Vanessa interviewed Dr. Jonny Bowden about eating healthy during the holiday season and starting your year off right. They talked about knowing how to read a label's nutrition guide, why you should avoid trans-fats, the need for people to eat more perennial foods such as wild rice, bananas, dark chocolate, artichokes, figs and apples, and also why people should consider changing their cooking oil. Dr. Bowden is a board certified nutritionist and also known as the "myth-buster". He has a master’s degree in psychology and is the author of fourteen books on health, healing, food and longevity. They also discussed dark meat poultry and how there is very little difference between light and dark meat, in terms of nutritional content. Dr. Bowden also explained how avocados help you fight fat with the right fat and the benefits of them being high in fiber and antioxidants.
