Should local councils be paying more to fund the arts? The Belfast Telegraph has reported that the Metropolitan Arts Centre better known as the MAC, which opened in Belfast in 2012 at a cost of more than £18 million, has asked Belfast City Council to triple the current funding that it receives. They currently get £75,000 per year but have asked the Council to increase it to £250,000 per year for the next four years under the core multi- annual funding programme.
