Recent comments from presidential candidate Texas Senator Ted Cruz have sparked fresh debate about smacking. Cruz said he spanks his five-year-old daughter when she lies. But Dr Ronald Pies from SUNY Upstate Medical University criticised his remarks citing research likening spanking to abuse.
