This is Deirdra Harris Glover with Jackson State News Now. I’m here on site at Offbeat, a Midtown art, music and comic book shop owned by Jackson entrepreneur Phillip Rollins. Jackson State University, in conjunction with Offbeat, is hosting a panel, Black Comics in the American South, part of Planet Deep South, a look at Afrofuturism. The panel is moderated by Tim Fielder, author of Matty’s Rocket Ship and other graphic novels, as well as Rollins, who is also known around town as DJ YoungVenom.
