Earlier on this week we revealed that it has cost 280 thousand pounds to subsidise canteen services at Stormont last year. Well, we were contacted by elderly residents in Gortin in County Tyrone. It's an isolated rural village in the heart of the Sperrins - it has no bank, no hole in the wall and few public services. What it does have, however, is Gortin Day Care Centre - a place where 13 elderly and vulnerable adults can go to one day a week. Last year it cost around 20 thousand pounds to run. But the 13 families who rely on the service have been told by the Western Health Trust that it's under threat.. And that they'll either bus or taxi users to Newtownstewart - an extra 16 mile round trip for those suffering from degenerative illnesses such as Parkinson's, blindness and Dementia. Our reporter, Nicola Weir, went to Gortin to speak to those who say the centre is a lifeline to their loved ones. Her report begins with Siobhan Hollywood and her mother, Anne.
