Hijacked EgyptAir Flight to Cairo Lands in Cyprus

An EgyptAir flight bound for the country's capital Cairo from Alexandria was diverted to Cyprus Tuesday and has landed there after being hijacked, the airline said.

The airline has confirmed the hijacking of flight MS181, an Airbus 320 with 81 people on board, in a statement on Twitter, adding that negotiations are ongoing with the hijackers.

At least one of the hijackers is believed to be armed.
