The government is calling on the SPLM-IO to respect and abide by the transitional security arrangements as stipulated in the peace agreement. Addressing a press conference following the aborted return of Riek Machar today, government spokesperson Michael Makuei said the government had received information that Machar was planning on arriving with more forces and heavy weaponry.
“Today the 19 April 2016 the government was informed that he wanted to come with an arsenal of arms, inter-alia, anti-tanks, lazer guided missiles and heavy machine guns,” said Makuei.
