ESPN fired analyst Curt Schilling over recent comments he made on social media criticizing transgender people.

Schilling, a former Boston Red Sox pitcher, was fired on Wednesday after sharing a Facebook post that seemed to follow up on the news of the controversial North Carolina "bathroom bill." He had been working for the network since 2010.

"ESPN is an inclusive company," ESPN said in a statement.
