Is it okay to steal if you're hungry? @CharlieSeaWolf and Bumper Graham debate

'If you're hungry, stealing food is not a crime' - that's according to a court in Italy. Stealing small amounts of food to stave off hunger is not a crime, Italy's highest court of appeal has ruled. The court found that a homeless man who stole cheese and sausages was acting "in a state of need" so his actions could not be considered an offence... Would you welcome a ruling like that here?
