UN Envoy tells South Sudan to provide support to victims of sexual violence

The United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Sexual Violence in Conflict, Zainab Hawa Bangura, has called on the top political leadership in South Sudan, to provide medical and psycho-social support to the victims of sexual violence, their families and their communities.

The UN Special envoy is in South Sudan for a four day visit to take part in activities that will culminate in the validation and launching of the implementation plan of the joint communiqué that she co-signed with President Salva Kiir in October 2014.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Radio Miraya, Zainab Bangura, noted that support for victims of sexual violence is crucial for paving way for healing and reconciliation.
