San Francisco Police Chief Greg Suhr resigned Thursday after 30 years of service, according to the city's mayor.
Mayor Ed Lee announced that he asked Suhr to resign, appointing Toney Chaplin as acting police chief, according to NBC Bay Area. The announcement comes after San Francisco police fatally shot a woman earlier in the day.
