Cornea Donation - Impact of sight loss

There is a shortage of donated corneas in the UK, it has been revealed.

11% of people on the organ donor register tick the ‘opt out’ box for their eyes, compared to less than one percent who refuse to donate their kidneys.

Experts have told us many people feel their eyes are the most personal part of their body.

People also fear eye donation may leave facial disfigurements, or say no because of spiritual reasons.
