Millions of people take antidepressants as a way to treat depression, but a new study reveals what some physicians are prescribing antidepressants for off-label uses that are not depression-related.

In the study, published Tuesday in the journal JAMA, researchers looked at nearly 10 years' worth of electronic medical records for antidepressant prescriptions. In total, they reviewed over 100,000 prescriptions for antidepressants written by close to 160 doctors for nearly 20,000 people.
