Makerstown

Fifty of Europe's brightest and best young entrepreneurs converged on Brussels to show off their latest ingenious inventions, in a new event that aims to celebrate innovation from all over the EU.

The recent first-ever Makerstown event at the City Centre Square venue, was co-organised by ThinkYoung, a Brussels-based organisation that lobbies on youth affairs, and the Wilfred Martens Centre for European Studies. The event consisted of an innovators exhibition and a simultaneous conference featuring European Commissioners, MEPs, and Business leaders discussing the challenges and opportunities concerning these young "makers" who form part of the European Maker Movement. Owen Stafford went along to see the event for himself and got to speak to some of these young innovators who were displaying everything from robots, drones, 3D printing and the latest music technology.
