The river and the canal: ecological corridors in the heart of Brussels

Brussels is one of the greenest cities in the world and home to a great variety of plants and birds and animals but more can be done to insure and maintain a healthy bio-diversity. Coordination Senne, Bruxelles Nature and Natagora are working together to connect the different green zones in Brussels to create "ecological corridors in the heart of the city" using the canal and the river and upgrading their environments. Ecological mowers (in this case Île d'Ouesson sheep), platforms for stork nests, and incentives for industry to provide green areas on their property are all on the agenda. Pierre Lambelin, president of Natagora explains. www.coordinationsenne.be www.natagora.be www.bruxellesnature.be
