"I died from OD'ing and they saved me with that Narcan thing"-- a Prince George man responds to news of a new form of antidote for Fentanyl

If you aren't familiar, Naloxone, commonly known as Narcan, is a drug that reverses the effects of opiate overdoses. Health groups across the country have been calling for a wider availability of Narcan in the wake of a tremendous spike of fentanyl-overdose related deaths. The antidote is normally injected. Now, Health Minister Jane Philpott has signed an interim order to allow the nasal spray version of the drug to be imported from the US to Canada. This move comes about four months after Health Canada de-listed the drug. Once individual provinces sign off, this will mean that it is available without prescription.

We wondered if there was much of a difference between the nasal spray and the injectable version of Naloxone. Bruce Willier is a Prince George resident.
