JMEC urges President Kiir and VP Riek Machar to return to dialogue

The Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission - JMEC has called on the President and First Vice President to ensure that the cessation of hostilities is strictly observed by the armed forces of the two sides.

Berhanu Kebede, JMEC Chief of Staff, told Radio Miraya that JMEC welcomed the ceasefire, but called on both President Kiir and the first vice President, Riek Machar to ensure that their forces to observe the ceasefire.

"This is a step in the right direction in the pursuit of restoring peace and stability in Juba and its environs," said Kebede.
