"Settle down and provide peaceful leadership"- Ugandan Bishop tells Kiir and Machar

[...] “They should stop fighting because they are using new wine putting it in the old wine, South Sudan got their independence through fighting, and they now got their independence why are they fighting? This is a new South Sudan, a new nation with new leadership but they are putting it in the old wineskin of fighting. What are they doing there in South Sudan? ... that’s why we are saying we need life to be preserved."

The Former Bishop of Gulu Diocese, Bishop Nelson Onono Onweng, has sounded a strong appeal to South Sudan’s leadership asking them to preserve the lives of the people.

The call comes amid rising concerns about the influx in the number of South Sudanese arriving in Uganda following the recent tensions in the country.

Bishop Onono Onweng, Spoke to Miraya Breakfast show, and stressed; "the time is now for President Kiir and Dr Riak Machar to stop the fighting and restore peace in South Sudan."
