Old Street Decelerator
Old Street reimagined by Nigel Bryant.
"The process involved looping a section of the train accelerating out of the station and applying effects to this. This was then run on to a tape recorder and two audio files produced from the tape recording: the first with a gradual increase of tape speed over a fixed duration and the second with a gradual reduction of tape speed over the same fixed duration. The two files were then used in combination to create the finished piece. An obvious reference for the technique is the early tape work of Steve Reich and a desire to take a reductive approach, focusing on the elements of the recording that were most appealing to me as a listener."
