Seishiro Yabuuchi hits and pitches Japan to 6-1 victory.

Seishiro Yabuuchi came up big at the dish and on the hill, leading Japan to a 6-1 win over Dominican Republic on Monday at Nationals Field.

Yabuuchi put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for Japan. He homered in the third inning and doubled in the fourth inning.

Yabuuchi struck out six hitters en route to the Japan win. Yabuuchi allowed one earned run, four hits and two walks over six innings.

Japan was sparked by Kairi Matsumura and Yabuuchi, who teamed up for three hits and three RBIs.

Fausto Betemit took the loss for Dominican Republic. He allowed six runs in six innings, walked one and struck out 10.

In the first inning, Dominican Republic pushed across its only run of the day on a wild pitch.

The game's last lead went to Japan thanks to a third inning rally that saw three runs cross the plate on a solo home run by Yabuuchi and a groundout by Kota Kurahara.

Japan got one-run rallies in the fourth inning and the fifth. In the fourth, Japan scored on an RBI double by Yabuuchi, scoring Ayato Hagiwara.
