LISTEN AGAIN: Cllr Dave Wilcox on Glossop Library & new Glossopdale Community School
Share
The fight to keep Glossop’s library in the Victoria Hall is over... That’s the view of Glossopdale County Councillor Dave Wilcox. Cllr Wilcox and his colleagues have welcomed Derbyshire County Council’s confirmation that resources will be available to build a new library extension on the same site as the town’s Adult Education Centre. He urged the Save Our Unique Library Campaign to work with the Victoria Arts Project to create a community arts centre in Victoria Hall. NOTE: Subsequent to this interview, Derbyshire County Councillor Dave Wilcox has issued an apology for claiming there were only 20 objections to plans to move Glossop’s library from the Victoria Hall to the site of the Adult Education Centre. The error was made in a press release issued by Glossopdale County Councillors last week and repeated in this interview for High Peak Viewpoint. The Save Our Unique Library pointed out that there are in fact 210 objections. Cllr Wilcox says he will be asking for an investigation into why planners misinformed councillors about the number of objections. He has told High Peak Radio that the press release was based on the best information they’d been given at the time and he apologises for misleading anyone.
