The stage was won by Magnus Cort Nielsen of Orica-BikeExchange in a bunch sprint, picking up his second stage, and Orica-BikeExchange's fourth of this year's Vuelta.

Nairo Quintana was safely in the peloton, allowing him to confirm his victory on the podium ahead of Chris Froome in second place, and Esteban Chaves in third place.
