Brussels Greeters

The Brussels Greeters are a group of enthusiastic local based volunteers that enjoy showing off their favorite parts of the city to visitors - for free. There are over 100 such volunteers in Brussels, who are part of the wider international Greeter network, who take tourists on tailor made guided trips, allowing them to delve into the real atmosphere of their city. Some of these tours have certain themes, such as history, architecture, religion, food - others like to wander off the beaten track to find undiscovered gems. To find out more, Owen Stafford went on a boat ride with the Greeters, which was part of a celebration marking International Greeters day for 2016. He spoke with Co-ordinator Allison Oostendorp as well as other greeters who have a passion for presenting the best of Brussels.
