More dams needed to control flooding in Nigeria .....Experts

Authorities building dams in the country have been advised to ensure that the structures are durable and bigger, to be able to withstand the large volume of water released by rainfall these days, as a result of climate change.

A Former Director, Erosion, Flood Control and Coastal Zone Management, Federal Ministry of Environment, Mr. Bawuro Yahaya, gave the advice against the backdrop of different calls on Federal and State governments to construct buffer dams, for sustainable flood management.
